Organizing a Troop Binder
The middle of summer, between barbecues and trips to the beach, is when I start planning my Girl Scout year. It seems like we just had our end of year celebration, but I know if I don't start planning now I'll be lost come September.
The first step to getting organized is my Troop Binder. The first section in my binder will have:
Each girl gets their own sleeve protector, labeled with their name, into which their papers will slide.
The first step to getting organized is my Troop Binder. The first section in my binder will have:
- Each girl's health history
- Each girl's annual permission slip
- Each girl's Fall Product Sales permission slip
- Each girl's Cookie sales permission slip
- Each girl's sales reports and incentives earned for both Fall Product and Cookie sales
Each girl gets their own sleeve protector, labeled with their name, into which their papers will slide.
My next section, again with sleeve protectors, will hold:
When the statements come, I will check all my receipts, staple them to the statement and slide it in the sleeve.
(Right now, my statements are in a different book, but this is not working out for me, so I will be transferring them)
- Bank statements by month
- Any receipts, held in the same protective sleeve with the bank statements
When the statements come, I will check all my receipts, staple them to the statement and slide it in the sleeve.

Also, in my binder I will have:
I won't include Badge Records, each girl is responsible for keeping track of what badges she earns, and any dues the girls bring in will go on their finance record.
- An extra copy of my "Welcome to the Troop" packet, for any girl that joins throughout the year
- Meeting schedule
- Information on the Silver Award (I have Cadettes)
- Individual finance records (my girls like to know how much of the Troop Account was earned by them specifically)
